Tempo
FOLLOW: the app listens to the band and follows its tempo, also when it slows down or speeds up. The normal choice.
FIXED: the tempo stops where it is and the app listens to nothing: the percussion plays from START at that tempo, the light always green. Beside TAP, in place of ÷2 and ×2, the tempo appears: touch it and type an exact one (50 to 200 BPM). On the iPad the − and + keys move it by 1 BPM.
START NOW: plays immediately at the last known or default tempo, then follows the detected tempo. With it off, the part waits for a stable lock, even when music is already playing.
PAUSE IF OFF: holds back an already unreliable first entry. Once playing, it fades out after 3 seconds in red and fades back in on a bar after recovery. Not in FIXED.
Long recordings and silence
In TRACK or a continuous MIXER feed, if a new song after silence stays at the previous tempo, tap STOP and then START. Sparse intros can need more time; use TAP or FIXED if you want to set the tempo yourself. All analysis is in real time, without reading future audio.
Clock
The sample rate. AUTO uses the interface's and does not change it: almost always the right choice. 44.1 / 48 / 88.2 / 96 ask the interface for that rate; changing it while playing restarts the audio.
Buffer
How much audio the app works on at a time. Shorter means less delay but more risk of clicks and gaps in the sound. AUTO takes what the interface already gives. If you hear clicks, choose a higher value.
Input
The first button chooses where the app listens; tap it to go to the next one.
MIXER: a send from the desk or a close microphone, through an audio interface. The most precise, the one for live.
IPAD: the iPad's microphone hears the room, and the app takes its own percussion out of what it hears. If I HEAR MYSELF appears, the percussion reaches the microphone as loud as the song: turn it down or move the iPad away.
TRACK: the app plays a file and listens to it. LOAD chooses the file, PLAY pauses; drag the waveform to jump to a point. With nothing loaded, PLAY plays the built-in demo song.
PROC.: iOS's automatic sound processing. Leave it OFF: the analysis works best on the signal as it is.
KICK: the button starts on NO KICK, and that is right for almost everyone. Set a channel only if your mixer can send the bass drum alone on its own input: tap until it shows KICK 2, KICK 3… the input that carries it (input 1 is always the full mix). The app then uses the kick to be even more precise on the beat; it lights up when the hits land in time. A channel that is not a kick is ignored, so a wrong choice does no harm.
IN MIX / IN 1, IN 2…: in MIXER, which input the tempo is read from. MIX averages them all; choose one if the send has its own input, so voice and guitars stay out of the analysis.
MIC (the bar at the top of the main page): how loud the app hears the signal. Drag the thumb until the level sits in the fuchsia band between the two ticks. Below it the analysis gets the tempo wrong; above it the colour turns amber, then red.
Feel
ENERGY: how much the part fills in with light strokes and small ornaments. Low is cleaner, high is livelier.
REVERB: how much room around the percussion.
Appearance / audio
DARK / LIGHT: dark or light theme.
LATENCY: measures the delay of your rig. With the output coming back to the input, press it: the app sends a short sound, measures how long it takes to come back (RT … ms) and uses that number to play in time. Press again to clear the measurement.

Accesso

START SUBITO: suona immediatamente all'ultimo tempo noto o a quello iniziale, poi segue il tempo rilevato.
